Our Investment Process

We believe in a disciplined, client-centered approach to investing that is driven by client goals and our fiduciary duties. To our investment professionals, investing is a full time job. They have no motivation to ‘sell’ any investment to our clients. We are not motivated by the number of transactions we execute. Central Bank makes no fee when we buy or sell within accounts in the Investment Management & Trust Services Division. Our normal investment process is as follows:

1st: Client Input: The investment process begins with a thorough analysis of the goals and objectives of our client. It is through this analysis that we are able to determine our client’s income needs, tolerance for risk, tax status, expected returns, investment policies, and other circumstances.
2nd: Existing Portfolio Analysis:
We analyze our client’s current investment portfolio to determine its effectiveness for meeting their long and short term goals and tolerance of risk.
3rd: Recommendations:
Before any recommendations are made, we apply asset allocation simulations to our recommendations to test their effectiveness. We then recommend an allocation among asset classes that is tailored to the client and will most likely meet their goals with an acceptable level of risk.
4th: Implementation:
In order to construct your investment portfolio, we meld your investment needs, goals and preferences with the investment opportunities available in the capital markets. We identify suitable investments in the fixed income and equity asset categories and employ portfolio construction tools to assess the trade-off between risk and return. We use state-of-the-art investment and accounting systems to implement your portfolio.
5th: Continuous Portfolio Management:
Investments are monitored on an ongoing basis in light of changing market conditions and client circumstances. Those continuing to meet investment risk and return expectations are retained while those that do not may be sold. We employ independent performance measurement tools to ensure that our investment selections remain competitive.
6th: Client Communication and Reporting:
We keep our clients informed with regular account statements and periodic client meetings. We keep informed regarding any change to our client’s goals and objectives. We employ asset allocation simulations using various plausible economic scenarios to gauge the effectiveness of current asset allocations for meeting long term goals.
