Step Two: Open Your New Account
We have a wide variety of accounts to choose from. You only need $50 to open an account. Stop in at any of our locations and drop off the completed Account Application form with one of our Customer Service Representatives.
Step Three: Switch Your Payroll Direct Deposit from the Old Account to the New Account
The Direct Deposit Authorization form should be sent to your employer and anyone else who is automatically depositing into your account. Your Social Security deposit can be changed by calling (800) 772-1213.
Step Four: Switch Your Automatic Payment from the Old Account to the New Account
The Automatic Payment Switch Form should be completed and sent to anyone who receives an auto-payment from your former account.
Step Five: Close your Old Account
You should allow approximately 30 days for everything to get switched over. Check with your employer to make sure your paycheck has been switched as soon as possible. Once the automatic payments start withdrawing from your new account, you will want to make sure you have funds in the account to cover the payment requests.
Make certain you keep enough funds in the old account to cover any outstanding checks, auto payments, and ATM or debit card transactions. Depending on the type of withdrawal, it may take several days for these items to clear. The sooner you stop using the old account the quicker you will be able to make the switch.
