Tom Fitzsimmons, Chairman of the Board for Central Bank of the Midwest, has enjoyed a long career in the financial services industry.  With a Bachelor’s degree from Central Methodist University, Tom began his banking career in 1972 as a credit analyst with a bank in Columbia, Missouri.  By 1979, he was President and CEO of First National Bank in Carrolton, MO.   As Missouri’s Commissioner of Finance, he served as the state’s chief banking regulator from 1985 – 1989 under Governor John Ashcroft.  In that role, he helped Missouri’s banks weather challenging times in the late 1980s—part of his career that Tom still considers one of his greatest professional accomplishments.  Following his time with the State of Missouri, Tom spent the next 14 years in progressive leadership roles with Mercantile and US Bank in Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas and Colorado.

Tom joined Central Bancompany in 2003 as the President, CEO and Chairman of the Board for Metcalf Bank where he led the organization through eight successful acquisitions, rebranding to Central Bank of the Midwest and unprecedented growth for the Kansas City affiliate to $1.7 Billion in assets prior to his retirement in 2017.  Tom’s legacy continues through his role as Chairman of the Board.  He lives in Leawood, Kansas with his wife, Janet.
