Building a Stronger Community: Central Bank Recognizes Promise Community Homes

May 1, 2025 (Jefferson City, Mo).  Central Bank is proud to spotlight Promise Community Homes (PCH) as part of its Small Business Month campaign. PCH is a vital organization dedicated to supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) by providing safe, affordable, and well-maintained housing within local communities. As the

largest comprehensive specialty housing provider for adults with IDD in the region, Promise Community Homes ensures its residents have stability, dignity, and accessibility to lead fulfilling lives.

Promise Community Homes, originally founded as Rainbow Village Properties in the late 1960s, was established by a determined group of families who sought to provide long-term care and inclusive opportunities for their children born with IDD. Their advocacy led to the construction of seven houses, a respite home, and a community center in 1973. In 2021, the organization rebranded as Promise Community Homes to reflect its expanded mission and continued growth.

Today, Promise Community Homes operates over 80 homes throughout St. Louis County, St. Charles County, Jefferson County, and St. Louis City, serving nearly 300 adults with IDD. In addition to housing, the organization offers critical accessibility modifications such as wheelchair ramps and lift supports, ensuring residents can live comfortably and age in place. The fully accessible community center also provides an inclusive space for social, educational, and recreational programming, featuring the only indoor heated therapeutic pool in Eastern Missouri.

Central Bank has been a dedicated financial partner to Promise Community Homes for over 25 years. Through financial management services, strategic investment guidance, and loan support, Central Bank has played a crucial role in the organization’s growth and stability. Thanks to this partnership, PCH has expanded its housing portfolio and strengthened its ability to provide lifelong, affordable housing for individuals with IDD.

Beyond financial services, Central Bank actively supports PCH’s mission through sponsorship of key fundraising events, including the annual Golf Tournament, Trivia Night, and Gala. Many Central Bank team members have served or continue to serve on the Promise Community Homes Board of Directors, further solidifying the bank’s commitment to community engagement and advocacy.

Promise Community Homes has profoundly shaped the local community by fostering independence and integration for adults with IDD. Residents are not only provided with stable housing but are also empowered to participate in everyday activities—shopping at local grocery stores, securing employment at local businesses, and engaging in community events.

Central Bank is honored to celebrate Promise Community Homes during Small Business Month and remains committed to supporting businesses and organizations that make a meaningful difference in the community.
