May 1, 2025 (Jefferson City, Mo). As part of our commitment to supporting small businesses, Central Bank is highlighting business customers in celebration of Small Business Month. Mitchem Tire, a fourth-generation, family-owned company, has been a trusted name in the Ozarks for over 85 years.
Founded in 1939 by the great-grandfather of current owners Steve and Cory Kruse, Mitchem Tire has grown from a seat cover business to a respected name in the automotive industry. In its early years, customers brought their new cars to Mitchem Tire for seat cover installations, paying just $25. During World War II, the business adapted to rationing restrictions and navigated the challenges of securing special permission to purchase and install tires. Through all the ups and downs, Mitchem Tire has remained a cornerstone of the Ozarks community.
"Our great-grandfather started this business with one simple idea—to help people take care of their vehicles. That mission still drives us today," said Steve Kruse.
Today, Mitchem Tire operates five locations across the Ozarks. Customers often share fond memories of their first visits, when Steve and Cory’s great-grandfather was still in charge, a testament to the company's enduring reputation and loyal customer base.
Mitchem Tire is proud to be a valued customer of Central Bank. What began as a partnership with merchant services has grown into a full banking relationship, with the company discovering a financial partner that truly understands its needs. Steve Kruse credits the bank’s commitment to personalized service and the strong relationships he's built with representatives Abby Glenn and Stephanie Murphy. Their unwavering support and guidance have been instrumental in Mitchem Tire's continued success and expansion.
Mitchem Tire is committed to more than just business success. As a proud member of the Ozarks Sertoma Club, the company places a strong emphasis on supporting children’s charities, local schools, and youth sports programs. Their dedication to giving back is reflected in both their financial contributions and their active involvement in community initiatives.
Mitchem Tire’s story is one of perseverance, community support, and a commitment to excellence. Central Bank is honored to support businesses like Mitchem Tire, helping them overcome challenges and continue their legacy of service. This Small Business Month, we celebrate Mitchem Tire and all the businesses that strengthen our communities each and every day.
