Dunn Joins Leadership Team at Central Bancompany (CBC)
JEFFERSON CITY, MO. (November 2, 2026) — Central Bancompany has named Brian Dunn chief audit executive, bringing more than 25 years of experience across consumer banking, risk management, internal audit and financial planning to the role.
Dunn joins the company after 14 years at Flagstar Bank, where he held several leadership roles including enterprise risk management, financial planning and analysis, internal audit, executive leadership and consumer banking. Most recently, he served as head of deposits for Consumer Banking, overseeing a $35 billion portfolio.
“Banks succeed when they connect with the communities they serve. I’m looking forward to helping the company keep growing responsibly,” said Dunn.
Throughout his career, Dunn has worked across many areas of banking, from setting rates on savings products and projecting customer deposit levels to building teams that identify and manage risk. He served as chief audit executive at Flagstar from 2016 to 2019, leading the bank’s internal audit function and serving as a trusted adviser to bank leadership.
He also served as chief of staff to the CEO from 2019 to 2022, helping lead company-wide initiatives through a merger. In 2020, he built the team and processes that delivered Paycheck Protection Program loans to help local businesses continue paying their employees during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Brian brings a valuable combination of banking experience, risk management expertise and leadership,” said John “JR” Ross, President and Chief Executive Officer. “We look forward to the perspective he’ll bring to the company and the contributions he’ll make as we continue serving our customers and communities.”
Dunn replaces Paul Kleffner, who is retiring from Central Bancompany after 38 years. “Throughout his tenure, Paul has played an important role in transforming our organization—from a $1.5 billion institution to the $20 billion bank we are today,” said Ross. “Paul’s thoughtful and humble leadership has helped shape our culture and leaves a lasting legacy.”
A Michigan native from just outside Ann Arbor, Dunn holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Western Michigan University. He and his wife, Kristen, look forward to becoming part of the Mid-Missouri community.
