The Roots of the Soccer Capital
In 1996, one of Major League Soccer’s original clubs — the Kansas City Wizards — helped bring top-flight professional soccer to the Midwest. The passion only grew. In 2011, the club became Sporting Kansas City and opened its new stadium, setting a new standard for the American soccer experience.
From sold-out crowds and the roar of supporters to youth leagues across the metro, Kansas City built a culture around the beautiful game. Today, that passion has earned KC a nickname recognized across the soccer world: The Soccer Capital of America®.
